Pakistan’s acclaimed theatre play now in Dubai due to popular demand
After the successful journey in Islamabad, Faisalabad, Multan and Karachi, Kopykats Productions Proudly Present SIACHEN now showing in Dubai at DUCTAC Theatre, Mall of The Emirates from Thursday 17th March to Saturday 19th March 2016.
Successfully producing plays such as Anwar Maqsood Ka Dharna that fetched amazing reviews amongst the Dubai press and audience, Pawney 14 August, its sequel Sawa 14 August, Aangan Terah and Half Plate, the KopyKats Production house is excited to showcase their next theatre project with Pakistan’s famous acclaimed satirist Anwar Maqsood with a mind provoking tragicomedy SIACHEN.
Anwar Maqsood- Writer of Siachen:
"We wanted to touch on a meaningful subject that would capture the emotions of the audience. A soldier’s life is solely based on obeying and moving on – Even if it means not knowing where he is heading off to…. This is where the story of Siachen begins."
This Play will not only make you drop off your seats with laughter but it will also make you cry like a baby. Join us for an evening of entertainment!
The backdrop of the play is set on the 20,000ft scenic mountain of Siachen where the curtains open to a team of soldiers bidding farewell to their families. The play is a concoction of emotions swinging from the comical highs and emotional lows of a soldier’s life and the measures they take to entertain themselves and others in the remote mountains of Siachen whilst protecting their nation.
Dawar Mahmood – Director & Producer of Siachen:
"We took the subject of this play very seriously so we decided to put the whole cast under house arrest for 120 days in a remote glacier location so that they could bond together. They were not allowed to return home to their families for both Eids and were restricted the use of cellphones, so they didn't have access to social media as well. We want the audience to see a team of soldiers who are gelled together just like the soldiers of Siachen, to portray the emotions and the reality of how life is on the boarders."
The audience will love the innovative aspects of this play, there are a number of surprises including an original soundtrack by Abbas Ali Khan that will be a treat for the Dubai audience.
Safinah D. Elahi (Co producer) says:
"Theatre is the next phenomenon in Pakistan and we are passionate about the talent our nation has to offer. We want the international audience to enjoy the same patriotism that we feel even if they live abroad. The line of theatre that we have introduced to the Dubai audience is purely Pakistani, Anwar Maqsood who appeals to both the young and old a-like writes the satirical and humorous script of Siachen. Anwar Maqsood tells a tale involving a roller coaster of emotions of the brave people of our nation who do not get documented and are sometimes sadly forgotten."
Businessman Hassan Sajwani says:
"Pakistani Stage Productions are fast becoming popular amongst the young professional crowds not just in Pakistan but also in other cities around the world including Dubai. With the large population of professional, highly educated Pakistani and Indian expats living in Dubai there is a strong appreciation and an understanding for the evolving Arts Scene of Pakistan. In recent days we have seen Actors like Ali Zafar and Fawad Afzal Khan and Mahira Khan who have had successful breakthrough on the International Film scene, many other artists from Pakistan are set to follow their peers footsteps. We are looking forward to bringing our second play with KopyKats Production and with Anwar Maqsood in the coming days and bringing more theatre productions to Dubai."
Kopy Kats and their supporting Dubai based team invites the social savvy crowd of the UAE to come and join them in an evening of emotional fun, humor and entertainment.
